Emma’s broad commercial and international experience help shape the future growth and security of the Device Technologies Group of companies. Key areas of responsibility include financial control, supply chain management, administration and IT. | | | |  | | Brent van den Berg Australasian Marketing Director | | Brent has over 20 years experience in marketing and sales gained from working in large multinational organisations, both in Australia and overseas. The vast majority of his expertise lies in the marketing sphere with a focus on strategy, innovation and brand equity development in the Food and Healthcare industries. Brent holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Business Administration. He joined Device Technologies in April 2007 with responsibility for the development of strategic marketing programmes to support the company's future direction and growth. | | | | | | Peter Mears Managing Director, Device Technologies New Zealand | Peter has over 24 years experience in sales and marketing. He holds a Diploma of Business (Marketing) from Auckland University (1992) and a Diploma in Sales Management from Auckland Technical Institute (1986). In 1995 he was awarded a service award by the Auckland Surf Lifesaving Association where his roles have included: Public Relations Officer, Deputy President, and involvement in the Medical Advisory Committee. In 1994, he was awarded a Distinguished Service Award for his role as crewman with the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter. His sales and marketing skills together with the medical training and experience developed during 10 years with the rescue helicopter have been instrumental in establishing key relationships with the following healthcare professionals; materials management, surgeons, heads of departments and specialist departmental staff. | | | |  | | Ruth Roberts Business Development Manager | Ruth has over 20 years experience in the healthcare industry. In 1981, after completing her Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in microbiology and biotechnology, Ruth worked as a Scientific Officer in the cardiac department of a major teaching hospital in Sydney. She was involved in the introduction of landmark cardiac stenting procedures and developed a strong interest in innovative technologies. Following two years of overseas travel, Ruth joined a significant medical device distribution company, initially as a Product Manager and later as a divisional General Manager. During this time she completed a Diploma of Marketing and Management and a Certificate of Strategic Business Development. In 1993, Ruth joined Device Technologies, assisting in product management and developing regulatory affairs and quality assurance programmes. As the company grew she assumed national responsibility for key business developments. As the company's Business Development Manager she is now responsible for all new product assessments and associated contract negotiations. | | | |  | | Phil Smith General Manager, Strategy & Business Development | Phil joined Device in October 2007 with 17 years experience in the healthcare industry in NZ, UK and Australia. Previously he had worked for Boston Scientific and Medtronic corporations in the areas of Radiology, Neurosurgery and Cardiac Rhythm Management. Phil practised for ten years as a dentist in NZ and Europe before returning to Australia to study business at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM). He holds degrees of Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, and a Masters of Business Administration from AGSM. As General Manager, Business Development & Strategy, Phil is responsible for the development of growth strategies for the Device Group, including new acquisitions and agencies. | | | |  | | Paul Bennett International Business Development | | Paul brings over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry to Device Technologies. He has managed both Domestic (US) and International sales operations, most recently for Medex as Vice President International, setting up international distribution and wholly-owned subsidiaries in Japan and Brazil. Medex was subsequently purchased by Smiths Medical where he held the position of Director of Sales for the Critical Care Division. Paul's global contacts enable him to bring new businesses, technologies and growth opportunities to the Australia/NZ market. | | | |  | | Darren Williams Chief Information Officer | | Darren joined Device Technologies as CIO in June 2012 and brings more than 10 years of IT solutions, design and delivery experience from across a broad range of industries. He has extensive experience in delivering large complex IT based solutions from both consulting and business perspectives in Programme and Project management roles. Darren has previously worked in consulting firms and large multinational companies in commercial business management roles across South Africa and Australia. Darren’s diverse commercial and IT solutions delivery experience work to provide innovative and robust systems to Device Technologies and its customers. Key areas of responsibility include IT infrastructure, business systems and IT managed services. Darren holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons), a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Information Systems and a MBA. | | | | | | |
