Michael (Mick) Trevaskis
Chief Executive Officer
After graduating with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Nursing), Mick commenced his medical career as a Registered Nurse in Melbourne gaining valuable clinical experience in his clinical specialty, Oncology. It was when Mick 4 years later, joined a family business in country Victoria that he developed a desire to pursue a career in business and sales.
In August 1998 Mick joined Device Technologies as an Orthopaedic Product Specialist for Victoria and Tasmania. He was quickly appointed to the position of Orthopaedic Product Manager and then National Business Manager Orthopaedics in August 1999.
In January 2003 he moved to Sydney to take up the position of National Sales Manager and in November 2006 became Director Sales and Marketing, with responsibility for the management of all sales and marketing activities undertaken by Device Technologies Group. In 2013 Mick was appointed to the Board of Directors at Device Technologies.
Mick has completed six years on the Board of the Medical Technology Association of Australia with two of these years serving as Treasurer.
Mick has continued add to his qualifications by completing his Company of Directors course at AICD in 2014 and followed that later on in the year by graduating from the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
Mick’s 18 year tenure at Device Technologies across many senior management positions has him well placed to lead the company into the future.
Executive Director / Chief Operating Officer
Emma joined Device Technologies as CFO in December 2005 after more than fifteen years experience in the finance and accounting field. She has worked extensively in the professional firm environment and overseas for a number of large multinational companies, specialising in acquisitions, business development and delivering change across organisations.
Emma’s broad commercial and international experience help shape the future growth and security of the Device Technologies Group of companies. Key areas of responsibility include financial control, supply chain management, administration and IT.
Chief Financial Officer
Ben joined Device Technologies in August 2008 after more than 12 years’ experience in professional practice both in the UK and Australia. He was previously a partner at Horwath NSW and Deloitte, specialising in audit, corporate taxation and acquisition due diligence. He is a member of the UK and Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Ben is responsible for the Group’s finance function, risk management and compliance and also performs the role of company secretary.
Brent van den Berg
Chief Marketing Officer
Brent has over 20 years’ experience in marketing and sales gained from leadership positions in large multinational organisations both in Australia and overseas. He has vast and diverse expertise in the marketing profession with a focus on strategy, innovation and brand equity development in both the Food and Healthcare industries.
He joined Device Technologies in 2007 with responsibility for the development of strategic marketing programmes to support the company’s future direction and growth. Brent also has responsibility for People and Culture in Device Technologies, ensuring the Company has a competent and diverse talent pool to support the business.
Brent holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Business Administration. Brent is a CPM (Certified Practising Marketer) and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.
Chief Information Officer
Darren joined Device Technologies as CIO in June 2012 and brings more than 10 years of IT solutions, design and delivery experience from across a broad range of industries. He has extensive experience in delivering large complex IT based solutions from both consulting and business perspectives in Programme and Project management roles. Darren has previously worked in consulting firms and in a range of commercial business management roles for large multinational companies in South Africa and Australia.
Key areas of responsibility include IT infrastructure, business systems and IT managed services. Darren’s diverse experience ensures Device Technologies is able to provide innovative and robust systems, both internally and to our customers.
Darren holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons), Bachelor of Commerce in Business Information Systems and a MBA.
Managing Director, DT New Zealand
Peter has 24 years experience in sales and marketing. He holds a Diploma of Business (Marketing) from Auckland University (1992) and a Diploma in Sales Management from Auckland Technical Institute (1986).
In 1995 he was awarded a service award by the Auckland Surf Lifesaving Association where his roles have included: Public Relations Officer, Deputy President, and involvement in the Medical Advisory Committee. In 1994, he was awarded a Distinguished Service Award for his role as crewman with the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
His sales and marketing skills together with the medical training and experience developed during 10 years with the rescue helicopter have been instrumental in establishing key relationships with the following healthcare professionals; materials management, surgeons, heads of departments and specialist departmental staff.
Anthony was appointed General Manager National Sales & Service in November 2012. He commenced with Device Technologies in 2003 and brings more than twenty years of healthcare experience to this role.
His detailed knowledge of the company’s products and services have equipped him to provide leadership and support to the company’s Regional and National Sales Managers. His areas of responsibility include working closely with General Managers and management teams of each of the specialist Business Units to drive sales and profitability in line with company goals and overseeing the Technical Service Group’s productivity and support of more than 2,500 public and private healthcare customers.
Anthony’s passion for customer service and his knowledge of the commercial requirements of the healthcare market are highly regarded. He holds professional qualifications in sales marketing and optical dispensing.
Craig has over 25 years of experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and medical devices in Australia and Asia. He has held senior leadership positions at Allergan and Bausch & Lomb where he was Managing Director and VP Commercial Operations, Asia-Pacific. Craig is also a seasoned operator in a public company environment having served as CEO and Managing Director at Vision Group Holdings Ltd, a former ASX listed company (now privately held).
Craig joined Device Technologies in 2014 and is now General Manager responsible for the ophthalmic business units including medical devices and capital equipment, Healthcorp our leading RTO and our technical services and support shared service.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Optometry (Hons Class 1) and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the University of NSW. Craig is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the SOVS, Faculty of Science, University of NSW and he is an active member of the SOVS Visiting Committee. Craig is also a member of the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) Sub-Committee on Healthcare Reimbursement.
Gary has over 20 years of local and international experience in healthcare and medical devices.
Gary brings a wealth of experience to Device Technologies, with a successful Sales Management background in Interventional Cardiology and Endosurgery, for organisations like Boston Scientific and Johnson & Johnson Medical.
Most recently, Gary held the role of Vice President at DePuy Synthes Australia.
Gary’s strengths along with his business acumen, are his exceptional people skills, his eye for talent and his ability to engage and motivate others.
Passionately committed to career development for all staff and managers, his professional expertise in the Sales & Marketing, Training and Management arenas enabled him to develop formidable sales forces and respectful corporate cultures.
Gary also holds a Bachelor of Business Accounting and Law from Curtin University.
General Manager, Strategy & Business Development
Phil joined Device in October 2007 with 17 years experience in the healthcare industry in NZ, UK and Australia. Previously he had worked for Boston Scientific and Medtronic Corporations in the specialty areas of Radiology, Neurosurgery and Cardiac Rhythm Management.
Phil practised as a dentist in New Zealand and Europe before returning to Australia to study business at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM). He holds degrees of Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Master of Business Administration.
As General Manager, Business Development & Strategy, Phil is responsible for the development of growth strategies for the Device Group, including new acquisitions and agencies.
Business Development Manager
Ruth has over 20 years experience in the healthcare industry. In 1981, after completing her Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in microbiology and biotechnology, Ruth worked as a Scientific Officer in the cardiac department of a major teaching hospital in Sydney. She was involved in the introduction of landmark cardiac stenting procedures and developed a strong interest in innovative technologies.
Following two years of overseas travel, Ruth joined a significant medical device distribution company, initially as a Product Manager and later as a divisional General Manager. During this time she completed a Diploma of Marketing and Management and a Certificate of Strategic Business Development.
In 1993, Ruth joined Device Technologies, assisting in product management and developing regulatory affairs and quality assurance programmes. As the company grew she assumed national responsibility for key business developments. As the company’s Business Development Manager she is now responsible for all new product assessments and associated contract negotiations.
General Manager Commercial Operations
With over 25 years in supply chain management, specialising in both the manufacturing and distribution industries, Paul is responsible for the effective management of the Group’s supply chain and operational performance. This incorporates procurement, warehousing, inventory control, customer service and logistics. His commercial responsibilities include major negotiations, project and contract management, acquisitions, due diligence and integration.
Paul joined Device Technologies in 1995 and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) in 2004.
Head of Quality and Regulatory – Australia and New Zealand
Ruth’s 15 years’ experience in healthcare and regulatory compliance commenced when she joined Device Technologies in 1998 to implement administrative processes and systems for the rapidly growing Technical Services department. She was appointed to the role of Regulatory Affairs Coordinator, project managing the implementation of the 2002 Medical Devices regulations and became Regulatory Affairs Manager in 2004, with a broader responsibility for compliance.
As Head of Quality and Regulatory, Ruth now leads a large team of professionals, ensuring prompt market access for new technologies in an increasingly rigorous regulatory and reimbursement environment. Key areas of responsibility include the provision of regulatory strategy, compliance with pre-market assessment and post-market vigilance, reimbursement, Workplace Health and Safety and the company’s Quality Management System.
Ruth is a member of the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) Regulatory Sub-Committee and the MTAA Access Committee.
